Philadelphia, PA – July 16, 2026

Keast & Hood is proud to congratulate Amanda M. Grogin and Matthew D. Schilling on earning their Professional Engineer (PE) licenses. This milestone represents years of dedication, technical growth, and commitment to the structural engineering profession.

Amanda M. Grogin, PE

Amanda joined Keast & Hood in 2022 after graduating from Drexel University and quickly became a valued member of our structural engineering team. Since joining the firm, she has contributed to a wide range of projects involving new construction, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, and educational facilities. Her ability to approach complex structural challenges with creativity, technical knowledge, and a collaborative mindset has made her a trusted teammate and an important contributor throughout all phases of project development.

Amanda’s project experience includes Northampton Elementary School, the Osmond North Physics Building at Pennsylvania State University, and the St. George’s School Dormitory Renovations. Through these projects, she has gained experience working with diverse structural systems, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and developing solutions that balance performance, constructability, and the unique needs of each project.

Beyond her project responsibilities, Amanda is passionate about supporting the growth of the engineering profession and building connections within the industry. She serves as Treasurer and a Young Members Group Board Member for the Structural Engineers Association of Pennsylvania (SEAOP) and is actively involved with Women in Structural Engineering (WiSE), Professional Women in Construction (PWC) Philadelphia, and the American Society of Civil Engineers Younger Member Forum (ASCE YMF). Through these organizations, Amanda continues to promote professional development, mentorship, and opportunities for emerging engineers.

Matt D. Schilling, PE

Matt joined Keast & Hood as a Drexel co-op in 2022 and transitioned into a full-time engineering role after graduating in 2023. Since then, he has become an integral part of our structural engineering team, contributing to projects that require detailed analysis, creative problem-solving, and close coordination with project partners.

Matt has worked on a variety of technically challenging projects involving existing structure analysis, construction-phase engineering support, mechanical pipe racks, and adaptive reuse. His notable project experience includes the University of Pennsylvania Clinical Research Building Rooftop, CHOP New Patient Tower Construction Engineering, and the Forman Arts Initiative.

In addition to his project work, Matt supports Keast & Hood’s software, AI, and equipment management efforts, helping the firm continue to explore new tools and technologies that improve the way we approach engineering. Matt is also committed to professional development outside of the office. He is an active member of AISC, the AISC Emerging Professionals Cohort, and SEAOP’s Young Members Group, where he continues to expand his technical knowledge and connect with other professionals in the structural engineering community.

A Milestone in Professional Growth

Earning a Professional Engineer license is one of the most significant accomplishments in an engineer’s career. The process requires years of education and professional experience under licensed engineers. Beyond demonstrating technical competency, the PE license represents a commitment to public safety, ethical practice, and the continued advancement of the engineering profession.

For Amanda and Matt, earning their PE licenses represents the culmination of years of dedication, mentorship, and hands-on experience. It also marks the beginning of the next chapter in their careers as they continue taking on new challenges, expanding their expertise, and contributing to the future of structural engineering.

Passing my PE and becoming licensed has provided a moment to reflect on my progress as an engineer. I am so grateful for the mentors who have helped me along the way and the opportunities I have been given to learn and grow. Excited to celebrate this new milestone!
