Keast & Hood Marketing Intern / Co-op
$16/hr – up to 20 hrs week

Keast & Hood is a professional services firm in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction Industry in Philadelphia, PA. The firm works on high profile historic projects throughout the city, such as city hall, the academy of music, and independence mall, as well as new construction projects like the new buildings in west Philly that make up the uCity Science Center. Marketing for a Structural Engineering firm is different than any other type of marketing you’d be doing at a direct to consumer brand. Keast & Hood is a small firm, around 30 people and has a marketing department of one! You will work directly with the marketing director, engineers, and the firm’s owners. Your work will be immediately contributing to the success of the firm and no two days will be the same.

Responsibilities / What your day will generally look like
Be a sponge - you’ll need to be open to learning new things all day long. Get ready to soak up everything from engineering to architectural history facts.
Creative License – Love graphic design? Great, we work in indesign and illustrator every day. You’ll work on presentations and laying out firm brochures as well as other branded graphic projects.
Arm chair detective – Like diving in and researching everything from different colleges to people online? Gathering background info and researching potential clients and business opportunities is a part of this position.
Amateur Photographer – At any time we have dozens of projects in construction all around Philadelphia and the tri-state region. The best way for you to learn about our work will be to get out on site and help with the photographing of our buildings that are in construction and recently completed.
Aspiring Barbara Walters – Naturally curious and love to talk to intelligent people? That’s good because you’ll be working with engineers and designers all day.

Requirements / What we’ll expect from you
Please, please, please be a self-starter, take initiative, and be able to talk to strangers.
Strong creative writer – we don’t need someone to write novels but you need to understand tone, writing with the audience in mind, fresh perspectives, and grabbing people’s limited attention.
Graphic Design – This doesn’t need to be your major but you should understand the importance of color, fonts, and hierarchy in graphics.
Social media – not looking for an influencer but you need to know how to use all the major platforms.
Computer programs – All the usuals (word, excel, slack, ppt, asana) and the creative usuals (photoshop, InDesign, illustrator)

Videography – love to make and edit videos on your phone or in camera? Great!
The built environment, architecture, old buildings, new buildings, urban planning – love Jane Jacobs? Great!
Part time baker or test kitchen chef? Not a requirement, we just like to eat around here….
