Aviator Park: The Filling Station

Once located at the corner of 20th and Arch Streets in Philadelphia, a 100-year-old Gulf Gas Station, now known as the Historic Filling Station, was relocated to Fairmount Park and is actively being used by a private owner. 

The building had fallen into disrepair after years of vacancy and required extensive stabilization, including deep repointing of masonry walls and minor roof repairs. Interior bracing was installed prior to lifting the structure with steel rigging and moving it on a wheeled platform. 

On March 22, 2023, the building was successfully transported through city streets to its new location, with electricians adjusting traffic lights along the route. After arriving, the structure was placed on its new foundation and final repairs were completed.
