Washington DC Office Relocates

Keast & Hood Co.’s Washington, DC, office has relocated to 1350 Connecticut Avenue NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, effective 15 July 2011.

“The new address affords us more space to accommodate continued growth, while the character of the wonderful, sun-filled historic building will be more conducive to Keast & Hood Co.’s creative culture and more in line with the firm’s commitment to historic preservation and sustainability,” said principal Matthew J. Daw, PE, LEED AP.

Designed by architect Mihran Mesrobian and built in 1931, the Connecticut Avenue building is similar in form to New York’s iconic Flatiron Building with Art Deco details, angular geometry, and a stepped mechanical penthouse atop 12 stories. The building was converted from apartments to offices in 1942 and renovated by Oldham and Seltz in 1987.

Keast & Hood Co. was founded in 1953 in Philadelphia. The firm built upon its 50-year legacy of structural engineering for new construction and historic preservation when it opened its DC office in 2005.
