Statement on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The structural engineering community must do more to increase the diversity of people and perspectives in our field. Keast & Hood knows that positive change must start with individuals and individual companies and is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in our practice and across the industry. This is not only a priority for the culture of our firm, but necessary for the advancement of the structural engineering profession as a whole.
At Keast & Hood our best work happens when we bring diverse perspectives and solutions to the table and we have long valued the diversity of our staff and design partners.
The firm continues to act to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the structural engineering field. We provide bias and communication training for all staff; we organize internal anti-racism education and discussions; we consider community impact and inclusion when pursuing new projects; and we encourage staff volunteer opportunities and group events to be of service to our communities.
We continue to diversify our staff as our firm grows. We are seeking projects and teams that enable us to fulfill these commitments and challenge us to be better activists.
We are not finished. Structural engineering must be a diverse practice, it must be an equitable practice, it must be an inclusive practice. We will work to be leaders in this effort.
