Mid-Atlantic Construction Names Keast & Hood Co. Project One of 2009’s Best

Mid-Atlantic Construction magazine announced the winners of its Best of 2009 awards program, including Keast & Hood Co.’s 2009 Presidential Inaugural Review Stands, which received a Small Project Award of Merit.

Overall, the jury honored 40 projects in 16 categories. Award-winning projects will be featured in the Winter 2009/2010 issue of Mid-Atlantic Construction and during a December 2009 awards ceremony.

Keast & Hood Co. provided structural engineering for the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Review Stands. Project teammates included Atelier Architects and Associated Builders, Inc. Project ownership and leadership was a joint effort of the District of Columbia, US Secret Service, and National Park Service.

Following the successful project, Keast & Hood Co. was recently engaged by the clients to provide as-built documentation of the stands.

The 2009 Presidential Inaugural Review Stands consisted of three demountable, recyclable structures designed and built on an extreme fast-track schedule in time for the historic January 20, 2009 Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama. A Presidential Review Stand was constructed in front of the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to accommodate the President-Elect, his staff, and family. A three-story Media Stand was located across Pennsylvania Avenue in Lafayette Park. An additional Review Stand serving the DC Mayor’s staff was erected on the front steps of City Hall.

Keast & Hood Co. congratulates its clients, teammates, and the other 2009 award recipients.
