Grand Opening of the South Philadelphia Community Health and Literacy Center

The South Philadelphia Community Health and Literacy Center recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, May 9th. Mayor Jim Kenney spoke at the ceremony along with Councilman Kenyatta Johnson. The second and third floors of the 93,000 SF building house a CHOP primary care center which is open and operational. The reception took place on the ground floor of the building, in the future home of a branch of the Philadelphia Public Library.

The facility comes from a unique partnership between the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia. Keast & Hood provided structural engineering to architectural firm, VSBA, LLC along with project MEP, Bruce E. Brooks & Associates and contractor, Perryman Building and Construction Services.
