A richly detailed project encompassed a 3,600-sf private art gallery and residential renovations and additions.
The D Residence & Gallery employed a wide variety of construction materials and technologies. Design highlights include a flowing, organic floor plan from which springs a faceted curtain wall topped with a folded-plate roof. A ten foot deep “floating” concrete beam anchors one side of the building. Keast & Hood provided structural engineering for the renovations and additions to the 7,000-sf residence: and all foundation, basement, and first floor design; all concrete design; and structural consultation for the gallery, including input on the detailing of multi-planar rain screen walls.
