# The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temple

![The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temple](https://keast-hood.itigniter.com/media/imported/2024-09-Philadelphia-PA-Temple-Exterior-night2016-edited-scaled.jpg)

The complex includes a two-level, underground post-tensioned concrete parking garage occupying the space of a full city block. The garage is topped by a landscaped plaza within which two buildings are situated. The buildings are the Temple, a four-story building of approximately 45,000 square feet in area and the Temple Services Building, a two story, 15,000 square foot structure. It features one of the most ornately detailed natural stone facades built in Philadelphia in nearly 100 years.

All buildings are designed to the Church’s strict seismic performance criteria which require a highly ductile lateral resistance system. Keast & Hood is the prime structural engineering consultant. In addition to designing the Temple, plaza, and garage, Keast & Hood is responsible for managing a minority partner with whom the firm has contracted for the design of the Temple Services Building.
