# Prospect House | Princeton University

Prospect House was originally constructed in 1849, designed by architect John Notman who helped to popularize the Italianate style in the United States. Prospect House was designated a National Historic Landmark and currently serves as a dining and events venue for the University. 

The Prospect House renovation improved accessibility and functionality of existing spaces, upgraded the mechanical systems, and expanded the kitchen capacity to better serve the adjacent Princeton University Art Museum. It provides contemporary spaces while maintaining historical charm. 

Structural scope included a variety of modifications throughout the building. The main doors were relocated and exterior access ramps were added. Reconfiguration of circulation required a variety of new and removed openings in the existing walls. Additional modifications to the interior included expansion of the bathrooms and replacement of kitchen plumbing on the lower level. A variety of mechanical upgrades were required for floor and roof penetrations, as well as the support of new equipment.
