# Lower Moreland High School

Set on a steeply sloped site, the new 190,000-square-foot Lower Moreland High School establishes a dynamic academic environment designed to serve 1,000 students and support the district’s growing population. The four-level facility integrates academics, arts, and technology-rich learning spaces within a transparent, light-filled structure that encourages collaboration and flexibility.

The building’s design emphasizes openness and connection - featuring expansive glass curtain walls and generous column spacing that allow classrooms to be easily reconfigured to accommodate a range of learning needs. In addition to general classrooms, the high school includes a 250-seat black-box theater, STEM and fabrication labs, a media center, and an array of student support and communal spaces.

Keast & Hood provided structural engineering design for the new building, developing efficient framing systems that respond to the site’s complex topography and multi-level organization. The structure accommodates large floor plates and column-free zones to support flexible classroom layouts, while also integrating seamlessly with the school’s extensive glazing and daylighting strategy.

The result is a forward-thinking educational environment that blends structural performance with architectural vision -creating a space that fosters innovation, creativity, and community engagement for generations of students to come.
