2025 SEAoP Award Winner
Originally built in 1974 to serve a much smaller student population, the Chamberlain Student Center has long been the heart of Rowan University’s Glassboro campus – a hub for student life, events, and community engagement. As the student body grew, so did the need for a more expansive and modern facility.
Completed in March 2025, the award-winning expansion responds to this growth by providing a dynamic, multifunctional addition that supports meetings, programming, campus services, and large-scale events. Designed around the concept of a traditional Greek “agora” – an open space for dialogue and community – the structure fosters collaboration through open, light-filled interiors and inviting public spaces.
Structural highlights include a full-height curtainwall system framed by a striking exterior colonnade, a new outdoor plaza and terrace, and an interior amphitheater. The roof features exposed glulam beams and cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, uniting aesthetics and sustainability in one of the university’s most forward-thinking spaces.
