Designed to support 1,750 students - with capacity to expand to 2,200 - the campus brings together academics, arts, and athletics within a cohesive, forward-looking framework. The new high school features a mix of one-, two-, and three-story structures organized around shared spaces that promote collaboration and engagement. In addition to classrooms and administrative areas, the facility includes a 1,000-seat auditorium with a stage fly loft, two gymnasia with locker rooms, a library and media center, a cafeteria and kitchen with loading dock, and a variety of specialized learning environments such as music and television studios. Two internal courtyards and a rooftop terrace offer flexible outdoor extensions of the academic core, encouraging connection between students and their surroundings. Keast & Hood provided structural engineering design for the full campus, integrating systems to accommodate the diverse range of programs while maintaining visual openness and adaptability. The team worked closely with the architect to develop efficient framing solutions for large-span performance and athletic spaces, multi-level learning zones, and light-filled common areas. Avon Grove High School stands as a model for contemporary educational design - one that blends structural ingenuity with a student-centered approach to create a vibrant environment for learning, creativity, and growth.
