Sherman Building featured in Civil + Structural Engineer magazine

Civil + Structural Engineer magazine features the Sherman Building earthquake recovery renovation project in its May 2014 issue. “Landmark Restoration Model” appears in the Project + Technology Portfolio in the Commercial/Industrial/Government category.

Structural distress caused by the August 23, 2011 Mid-Atlantic earthquake forced the closure of the landmark Sherman Building at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C., for the first time during its centenary history. It is now back to full force, thanks to a careful restoration, serving as a model for other similar projects.

Keast & Hood Associate Craig Swift, SE, LEED AP, and Carrie Barton of PRESERVE/scapes co-authored the article.
