Preservation PA Honors Two Keast & Hood Co. Projects

Two Keast & Hood Co. projects were honored by Preservation Pennsylvania with 2009 Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards at a ceremony held in the Pennsylvania Capitol on Thursday, September 17, 2009.

Preservation Pennsylvania Executive Director Mindy Crawford said, “The annual awards program highlights the richness and diversity of Pennsylvania’s heritage and recognizes the valuable contribution historic preservation projects make to community vitality.”

Keast & Hood Co. participated in two projects that earned Public & Institutional Properties Awards: Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church Restoration and Philadelphia City Hall Exterior Envelope Restoration, both in Philadelphia.

The Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church Restoration team included Atkin Olshin Schade Architects; 1:1:6 Technologies Incorporated; Keast & Hood Co.; Premier Building Restoration Inc.; The Temple Group; and Wolf Historic Preservation. Restoration work included structural, window, and masonry repairs; roof replacement; and new lightning protection.

The Philadelphia City Hall Exterior Restoration team included Kelly/Maiello Inc.; VITETTA; Marianna Thomas Architects; Keast & Hood Co.; Vinokur-Pace Engineering Services Inc.; Norton Art Conservation Inc.; Stephen McLaughlin Roofing Consultant; C.B. Development Services Inc.; Daniel J. Keating Co.; Avalotis; Lepore/Mark Inc.; Hamada Roofing Inc.; Crescent Iron Works; Window Repair & Restoration LLC; and Clad Sheet Metal LLC. Exterior envelope work has spanned over a decade and included restoration of masonry, windows, roofs, gutters, ornamental cast iron, and more than 250 marble sculptures.
