Wildwood Crest Library

Designed to replace a smaller, outdated facility nearby, the new Wildwood Crest Branch of the Cape May County Library System will serve the needs of full-time and vacation residents of the Jersey Shore community when it opens in 2015. The 12,000-sf library includes sustainable, hurricane-resistant design features and architectural details reminiscent of Wildwood’s Doo-Wop style architecture. Keast & Hood is providing structural engineering for the project, which involves renovation of an existing pre-cast concrete building on the site and construction of a steel-framed addition. Structural complexities include an articulated, saw-tooth roof structure that supports a 30-foot-high curtain wall, large spans to accommodate an open interior floor plan, expanded window openings within the existing structure, insertion of a new mezzanine level, and a lightweight green roof.
