Kemerer Museum

Part of the Historic Bethlehem Partnership of museums and historic sites, the Kemerer Museum displays Victorian-era paintings, jewelry, china, silver, textiles, glass, and furniture as well as the E.J. Prime dollhouse and toy collection.

The multi-phase museum expansion provides additional collection storage and visitor amenities. The first phase added the new Collections Resource Center within an existing courtyard. Keast & Hood provided structural engineering design for the 5,000-square foot, two-story addition constructed with flat-plate concrete floor and roof slabs. A basement level houses mechanical space. Floor-to-ceiling glazing on the primary floors allows museum visitors to view the special artifact collections areas within the addition. Project complexities include close adjacencies of other museum spaces, and the presence of large boulders and a cistern beneath the ground. The project is partially funded by a RACP grant.
