Jones Hall | Princeton University

Keast & Hood provided structural renovations to a classic 1930 Collegiate Gothic building, designed by Charles Klauder, for the introduction of modern mechanical systems.

Renovations included the transformation of a crawlspace into a full-depth basement. Keast & Hood’s engineering work included development of the excavation, underpinning, shoring, jacking, column replacement, and monitoring strategy, design of all temporary and permanent structural elements, and inspection of the work during construction. The work was completed with virtually no movement of the structure and without damage to the highly-sensitive exterior brick and interior stone masonry finishes.
