Explore Our Work
Our projects include schools and universities, museums and cultural institutions, healthcare and research facilities, housing, commercial buildings, and civic spaces. Across these settings, our practice includes:
- New Construction: Designing structural systems that support architectural goals and practical construction.
- Renovations, Additions, + Adaptive Reuse: Evaluating existing buildings and adapting them for new demands and uses.
- Historic Preservation: Investigating and strengthening significant structures while respecting their original materials and construction.
- Structural Investigation + Repair: Understanding how buildings perform and developing solutions for deterioration, damage, and structural deficiencies.
- Building Envelope: Evaluating and restoring facades, roofs, and waterproofing systems.
- Construction Engineering: Designing temporary supports and shoring, and evaluating construction sequences.
- Sustainable Design: Extending the useful life of buildings and reducing embodied carbon through reuse, efficient design, and material selection.
As an SE 2050 signatory, we are working toward net-zero embodied carbon in structural systems by 2050.
Working at Keast & Hood
We value team members who ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly, and take care in their work. Our colleagues bring a range of specialties and experience, and we learn by sharing what we know. Our culture of continuous learning encourages us to discuss assumptions, check our work, and consider different approaches. These conversations strengthen our engineering judgment and help us deliver better projects.
We bring a team mentality to each project, developing solutions that support our clients' visions. During construction, we work closely with contractors as partners to address challenges and put those solutions into practice. Within the office, we support one another's growth and help colleagues work through difficult problems. Team lunches, social events, and community activities give us opportunities to build relationships beyond our project work.
Learning + Development
Your education continues throughout your career. We combine structured development opportunities with guidance on active projects to help you build technical knowledge and take on greater responsibility.
Mentoring Program
Our mentoring program connects emerging professionals with experienced colleagues for guidance on technical development, communication, and career goals. These conversations provide space to ask questions and learn from experience beyond an immediate project assignment.
Brown Bags
Our voluntary lunchtime Brown Bags provide an informal setting to share project updates, practical tips, and lessons learned. Lunch is provided, and colleagues are welcome to present, join the discussion, or listen.
Paid Training and Continuing Education
We provide paid time and financial support for approved courses, seminars, workshops, and conferences. Employees bring that knowledge back to the office, helping the whole team benefit from what they learn.
Learning Through Project Work
Design reviews, site visits, and construction coordination connect calculations and drawings to the way buildings are built. Working alongside experienced engineers helps you understand the reasoning behind decisions and develop your own judgment.
Licensure Support
We support professional licensure through approved study resources, paid exam time during work hours, and exam fee reimbursement upon passing, in accordance with firm policy.
Community + Education
Our commitment to learning extends beyond the office. Members of our team teach at local universities, mentor students through the ACE Mentor Program, and share their expertise through professional organizations and presentations. These connections help introduce students to engineering, increase diversity within the structural engineering profession, and strengthen the exchange of ideas within our industry.
